Berlin-based Bernhard Hollinger, fostering new movements in experimental music, makes his hertz debut.
This edition takes a different approach from previous hertz events, offering an open, informal floor connected to the outside. It retains the series’ experimental spirit while creating a listening space that sits naturally within the club environment.
Our guest is Bernhard Hollinger from Berlin, currently touring Japan. His experimental live performances cross genres and incorporate elements of installation. This is an opportunity to experience the distinctive music he has developed through a creative residency in Japan.
The local lineup brings together trusted artists known for shaping parties in their respective fields, from deep listening to club music. Each offers an approach grounded in an experimental spirit.
The event also celebrates the release of Field Recording Works 2018–2023, the debut album by hertz organiser vvekapipo. Cassette copies will be available at the venue.
Bernhard Hollinger
Bernhard Hollinger is a multifaceted Berlin-based musician, bassist, composer and producer. He explores a distinctive musical expression across improvisation, beats, the avant-garde, contemporary classical music, jazz, ambient and electronic music.
Alongside bass guitar performances using effects and electroacoustic techniques, his inventive setup incorporates light bulbs. His style reflects a drive to move beyond genres and conventional musical constraints.
He curates Lo-Fi Playground, a platform presenting experimental formats and adventurous music, and hosts the monthly podcast Space Lab Transmissions on 90mil Radio, part of Berlin’s arts collective 90mil. From Berlin, his work focuses on avant-garde and improvising musicians and artists from around the world.
At the time of this announcement, his latest album, 1987, was scheduled for release in April 2025 through Austria’s Boomslang Records.
